Shirani Dhawan founded CLC in 1979 to promote early childhood education in the Conejo Valley. Mrs. Dhawan was introduced and trained in Montessori techniques by Mario Montessori, Dr. Maria Montessori’s son. She graduated from the AMI Centre in London in 1968 and has been teaching internationally since then. She has taught and help start many Montessori schools in the greater Los Angeles area. Mrs. Dhawan has also trained teachers in Montessori techniques. In addition to her Montessori credentials, she also holds a degree in child psychology and is active in child development issues. CLC is a privately owned school and has complete freedom to implement its own curriculum which is designed by Mrs. Dhawan.
Ms. Mita has been a Montessori teacher at CLC for the past 18 years. She holds a degree in fine arts with an emphasis in language arts and music. Mita enjoys teaching children and seeing how they improve and grasp the concepts. Children learn to read quickly in her class as she patiently helps them put together letter sounds and build their confidence. Her love for the children and ability to see each of their potential creates a wonderful learning environment for the school.
Ms. Rashida teaches our 2-4 year olds and loves seeing them grow and learn. She has had extensive training in math, science and creative arts as well as holding a degree in Economics. Rashida comes to CLC after teaching kindergarten in Hong Kong for 7 years and fourth and fifth grade math and science in Pakistan for 2 years. She also has had 3 years Montessori training in Los Angeles. Her loving nature helps provide a nuturing environment for the young children just starting school.
